Sherri Mixon

Chief Executive Director

Sherri Mixon, the Executive Director of T.R. Hoover Community Development Corporation since 1998, has deep roots in the South Dallas community. Growing up in the Ideal-Bonton-Bexar St. area, she remains committed to the neighborhood where she still resides today. Alongside her mother, Jacqueline, Sherri actively fought against community issues from a young age. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Prairie View A&M University, she returned home to continue her work in creating programs and events to address ongoing challenges. Sherri's dedication led to the establishment of T.R. Hoover CDC, where she spearheaded numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life in South Dallas, including housing projects, senior citizen home repairs, and business development plans.

Ms. Sherri, known affectionately by many, brings a wealth of experience as a community organizer with deep roots in the neighborhood spanning over a century. She is a seasoned developer with a strong background in managing community projects, grant writing, financial management, and program development.

Ms. Mixon is actively involved in various city boards and collaborates with neighboring organizations to drive positive change through problem-solving and innovation.

Currently, she is spearheading the establishment of the Hoover Tech facility at T.R. Hoover CDC, aiming to provide equitable technology-based opportunities for the residents of South Dallas.
